METHODOLOGY OF APPROACH TO THE INTERVENTION ISSUES

The project starts by considering several important aspects related to the site and design assumptions.

1.   Analysis of the context and intervention in the auditorium:
Centrally located, Porcia is a municipality with a rich artistic heritage and an active industrial zone. The aim of the intervention is to create an auditorium that becomes a cultural landmark, with an architecture that is integrated into the context of Lower Friuli. Traditional materials such as wood, terracotta and stone are used in a contemporary design, avoiding camouflage and continuing the tradition of quality interventions.

2.   Analysis of the villa and design intervention:
The villa includes both buildings and a six-hectare park. The plan system incorporates the ovaloid shape of the pond and the inclination of its axis, while respecting the natural environment.

3.   Analysis of the Villa Correr-Dolfin and interventions:
The villa, one of the most important in the region, has a regular plan and a sculptural volume that defies the logic of front/back. The intervention aims to simplify the complexity of the previous drawings by creating a clean and functional architecture, with a clear perception of the architectural object and an optimal management of the interior spaces.

4.   Analysis of the "barchessa" and interventions:
The barchessa has an elongated rectangular plan and a lower volume than the main villa. The intervention involves a contemporary approach with a reinforced concrete construction system and fragmented volumetry, in contrast to the Friulian-Venetian tradition.

DESIGN APPROACH COMMON TO THE TWO SOLUTIONS
(solution 01: Rhythm and Geometric Simplicity. solution 02: Dialogue with tradition)

Villa Correr Dolfin was a considerable investment. The Correr family sawed wood, then used it in abundance and in Venice in large quantities, as an important source of income.
The adoption of the XLAM prefabrication system recalls the original vocation of the complex.
The reference to this sustainable material in the finishes and its use in the interiors as an acoustic key thus becomes a key figure in our design. Wood, in addition to the rest, offers a cozy and comfortable image to guests and workers.

While solution 01 is characterized by the use of pure geometries centered on the ellipse and a strong separation between solids and voids, solution 02 favors a language directly inspired by agricultural tradition, but with a contemporary treatment of materials.

The two solutions represent different architectural visions, but both evolve from the concept of the "barchessa", interacting with its form and function, albeit with design choices that reflect modernity.
